About the Symposium

ACS Publications will host its symposium on “Innovation in Energy Conversion – A Physical Chemistry Perspective” at Dalian institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Dalian, China on September 24-26, 2016. The three-day scientific program features lectures by world renowned scientists, poster sessions, and short talks selected from outstanding abstracts. We are honored to partner with Dalian institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (DICP) and Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials (iChEM) for three-days of innovative science in energy conversion.

Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics

The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) is located in the beautiful port city of Dalian, China. In the past half century, research at DICP has closely reflected the economic and scientific needs of China. The Institute has built up an impressive portfolio of achievements, principally in the fields of catalysis, chemical engineering, chemical lasers, molecular reaction dynamics, organic synthesis, and chromatography for modern analytic chemistry and biotechnology. These achievements have greatly contributed to the economic and technological development of China. Research at DICP is now focused on energy-related topics, and the Institute’s current development strategy is summarized as follows: “DICP focuses on sustainable energy research and coordinates the development of environment optimization, biotechnology and advanced material in a multidisciplinary atmosphere by strengthening technological integration and innovation. DICP aims to play indispensable roles in national economy and security, and to become a leading research institute in the world.

Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials

The Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials (iChEM) was established in September 2012 jointly by Xiamen University (XMU), Fudan University (FDU), the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It has been created under the framework of “Collaborative Innovation Program” of the Ministries of Education (MOE) and Finance of China (MOF), the so-called “2011-Program”, launched in 2011 after the well-known National “211-Program” and “985-Program”.The mission of the consortium is to integrate key innovative elements among the universities, research institutes and enterprises in China and abroad. In addition, iChEM takes advantage of the strengths in “chemistry and materials sciences” of the four member institutions in the further advancement of cutting-edge energy-related research and meanwhile training younger generation of for research excellence, whereby strengthening research community and industry collaboration.

The International Symposium on Energy Chemistry & Materials

(ISECM) is a series of symposia organized by the Collaborative Innovation Center of Chemistry for Energy Materials (iChEM). ISECM bringa together scientists, researchers, and students from academia and industry with interests in energy-related chemistry and materials. The 3rd ISECM will partner with the ACS Publications Innovation Symposium series and held in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences (DICP), Dalian, China on Sept. 24th - 26th, 2017 jointly organized by ACS Publications, DICP and iChEM.
